My inspiration
I am inspired by my Buddhist practice and nature-based spirituality, and the opportunity they bring for learning to connect deeply with my inner experience, others and the world around me. My journey with meditation, reflection and mindful movement continually reminds me to inhabit my embodied experience, which holds so many clues about how thoughts, feelings and perception come to arise as they do.
This understanding interweaves with and underlies my approach to therapy. My counselling training included the study of Buddhist psychology, combined with humanistic approaches to therapy, perfectly matching my fascination with and personal commitment to spiritual practice and growth.
My background
Before becoming a counsellor I worked in further education, supporting those with additional learning needs. I appreciate the diverse and unique ways in which we each understand and process information and this informs my counselling work too.
I am autistic, so I have lived experience of the strengths and challenges that this can bring, and my practice is neurodiversity-affirming. I am passionate about supporting neurodivergent people towards self-acceptance.
I also have a background in art and design, having previously gained a degree in Textile Design. Creative practices can provide an important mode of self expression and way to tune into inner experiences. I can incorporate creative methods into counselling sessions if they appeal to you.
